The ARTIST

Mel Green has always had an affinity for art. His ability to draw naturally set him on his path to Art School in South Africa. Life Drawing, Still Life and 3-dimensional media got him his first job in advertising straight out of art school, where visualization was valued. During his life-long career as a graphic designer and illustrator this ability was nurtured and developed and eventually, computers became his medium of necessity.

A life-changing move to Gloucester, Massachusetts in 2004 led to lessons in Watercolour painting with the esteemed artist Bernie Gerstner at Rockport and a new affinity was nurtured. Since then Mel Green has painted and sold his work at Local Colors co-op in Gloucester, and in 2009 he moved back to Boston where he continues painting at his home studio.

Semi-retirement has led to the realization that painting would become another natural creative outlet. This website displays much of his work.

Mel usually works from photographs taken on trips locally and overseas, although occasionally pleine air painting are made when the mood is just right. Painting commissions are always welcomed, please enquire.

His paintings live in the homes of satisfied clients as well as musicians and music companies.
